New S3 Guidelines on Lymphedema - April 22, 2026
The 11th Clinical Lymphology Day, organized annually by the Austrian National Reference Center for Lymphology, located in the network hospital of that town, was held on 17 and 18 April in Wolfsberg, Austria.
The meeting focused on the presentation of the S3 Guidelines on Lymphedema. These guidelines are the result of the work of several expert committees, who evaluated and selected literature on:
- definition, epidemiology and pathophysiology
- basic diagnostics
- advanced diagnostics
- conservative treatment
- surgical treatment
- prevention
- psychosocial aspects
- patient guidelines.
The event also provided an opportunity for a guided tour of the Wolfsberg Lymphology Center and for the performance of some practical training activities, such as the use of indiocyanine green fluoroscopy.
The Guidelines will be published shortly on the AWMF (Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Wissenschaftlichen in Medizinischen Fachgesellschaften) website in German and English.
